Despite Brian's hectic schedule, he takes great pleasure in being heavily committed to various charities. Having run the London Marathon for the benefit of Aids victims, walked The Moonwalk for Breast Cancer and ridden at Royal Windsor Racecourse for The Princess Royal Trust for Carers he still finds time to do work for numerous other charities.

Brian is a Trustee of Anthony Nolan. Over the past 35 years; we've saved thousands of lives by matching the right donors to people in need of a stem cell transplant. We're the most successful stem cell register in the UK but for every person we help, there's another who misses that chance. That's why we need to expand, grow the register and raise the funds to put our ambitious vision into action. Your money will help us to try and save each and every life.
Since we first began the register in 1974, we've come a long way. From only a handful of staff and donors, we've now got around 171 staff and over 400,000 people on the register. Shirley Nolan's tireless fundraising made it possible for us to move to our first official laboratory in 1978. Since then, with help from the Round Table we were able to grow the register and build our research institute in 1993. Fusing science and research with our work has been an invaluable part of helping to save more lives. We cemented this by opening the UK's first dedicated cord blood bank in 2008, expanding the ways in which we can provide transplants. For more details visit the website.
Patron of 'The Food Chain' - Still feeding the fight against HIV and Aids

Brian is a Trustee of the Academy of Culinary Arts' Adopt A School Trust a long - term project which, through a hands on approach, focuses on developing an essential understanding of taste and teaches children about the pleasures of eating, the provenance of ingredients and the processes by which raw materials are transformed into food. As well as providing a solid basis for learning life skills, it is hoped this will encourage them to experiment for themselves.
Brian is a Trustee Director of the William Heptinstall Award, which is an annual award given to young chefs in the UK. For further details of the Award visit their website.
Brian is a trustee of the PM Trust which exists to help young people make the right start in the hospitality industry. It was originally founded, in the 1940s, to 'promote the mental, physical and spiritual well-being of young men and women working in the hospitality industry in London by the provision of such facilities (including, but not restricted to, the provision of grants, loans and other financial assistance) as the committee shall think fit.'
Brian is now a patron of the 'Lainey K Campaign'. A friend of Brian's lost his wife to cancer in December 2005. The Trust has been set up to raise much needed funds for local families in the Sheffield area that will need help with living through cancer. Visit their website for more details.
